Who & How

My name is Tom Pearcey, my friends call me Clearwater, please feel free. In my lifetime I've been deeply inspired, energized and in ways that I believe only nature can, have been reconnected to the original earthly moisture of my being by the northern landscape, it's creatures, it's waters and broad skies.

Like most, I followed the traditional 'work' path via employers to whom I am grateful. In 2009, like millions of others, I lost my job. Not wanting to retire, I was confused about what to do. I did know this, I still had plenty of 'gas' in the tank. I was discussing my 'state' with a friend one day and was inspired by her words,"don't die with your dream inside you." At 65 years those words have significance, so I struck another match, and here we are, my dream coming true!

Your Guide Staff

Very simply, our Inuit guides do not have formal titles like 'naturalist'...our guides could teach that class. The Inuit have lived on 'the barrens' for more than 2,000 years. The Territory of Nunavut is Inuit and translates to "Our Land" ...and indeed it is. Wild Tundra's Inuit guides know this awesome country's history, it's beauty and it's powers, it's plants, grasses, herbs, waters and wildlife like no one else can. Practicing the traditional ways of being on this land...they will pass them to you during your stay and they will get you as close as humanly possible to the wildlife. And we'll all show you the caribou waltz that can draw them within yards of your camera. ...and then we'll simply walk with them, awesome! Our guides are informal educators and fabulous story tellers ...happy to answer questions about their history, the local archeology, the flora/ fauna, their culture and wise way of being in the world.
